The circle is complete, we have finally integrated the aircrafts and passengers life cycles!
The process in a nutshell:
When a flight is allocated, it lands, taxis to the gate and drops of arriving passengers. The arriving passengers go to a bus pick-up point where they will take the next available bus and leave the area. In the meantime a buss takes new passengers to the terminal where they go through a check-in and security procedure. When boarding is called, the passengers board their assigned flight and once all passengers are boarded, the aircraft taxi out to the runway and takes off.
This is a quite important milestone since this is one of the fundamental aspects of the game and we will now continue build upon this cycle making it more complex and real. At the moment we are two developers, me and Olof, each taking responsibility of one part of the cycle; passenger and aircraft. This means that we can work more independent and simultaneously, as all of you developers out there know how difficult it could be to share a project like this.
The textures we briefly showed you earlier were a first step into making the game visually appealing. We have spent some time polishing them and trying to find the right look for Airport CEO. Many would argue that this is not so important at this stage and I could understand that, but textures are a big part of the game identity and feel. So I think it’s important to try to find the identity during your development process and don’t start too late. When we launch our crowdfunding campaign we want to show a visually appealing game to attract more interest. Maybe in the next post we will show you some of the new textures and you could provide some feedback. We really would like you to participate in the comment section. Everyone can post a comment, you don’t need to sign up or anything.
